Hello everyone,
If you have it available, could you please share your policy/procedure for what you do if a patron comes in stating that their checked out items are stolen and they have a police report?
I've heard two different policies and wondered what the majority of libraries do.
Clear the account and put a note.
Make the patron pay for the items and then get paid back from their insurance company.
Thanks!
Jenn

Hi Jennifer,
We have the patron pay for the items, however, we waive the late
fees/processing fees associated with it. We always tell the student to
claim it through his/her insurance, but that rarely happens in my
experience.
