Hello!

Thank you for joining the mailing list for Services to People Who Are Incarcerated.  I'm very excited about this group and our future conversations!  I hope that this list can be used for coordination, resource sharing, and supporting one another in better serving our library patrons inside of jails and prisons.

CLA 2019

The CLA call for conference proposals for the 2019 conference is open now!  It closes on March 21, 2019.  I'm aware that a few CDCR librarians are currently working on a proposal and want to encourage other librarians providing library services inside of jails and prisons to submit as well.  I invite any interested presenters to use this list for conversations about proposal design and to identify possible collaborators.

You can find the full call for proposals at

https://www.abstractscorecard.com/cfp/submit/login.asp?EventKey=LKUGSOLA

Please also review this funding opportunity for Arts in Corrections - I'm hoping it is relevant to some of your connections.

ABOUT ARTS IN CORRECTIONS

Administered by the California Arts Council and made possible via an interagency agreement with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), California’s Arts in Corrections program is designed to prepare incarcerated individuals for success upon release, enhance rehabilitative goals, and improve the safety and environment of state prisons. The program is internationally recognized for its high-impact, innovative approach to addressing the state’s public safety needs and rehabilitative priorities through arts and culture.

Services provided span the full spectrum of art disciplines, with organizations offering instruction in visual, performing, literary, traditional and cultural arts. Now in its sixth year, arts programming has grown to reach all 35 state adult correctional institutions. Learn more at
