iREAD Order Shipping Update

Beginning Monday, June 1st, iREAD will resume shipping of all outstanding
summer reading orders that were placed after January 7th, 2020. Orders will
be shipped in the order in which they were received. If you have questions
about your order or need to change your shipping address, please contact
iREAD customer service at iread@ila.org or (224) 698-1728. Thank you for
your patience and understanding as we have navigated through these unusual
times!

Dear iREADers...
Now that summer is fast approaching, *we want to know what your library is
doing for its summer reading program! *Perhaps your library is utilizing a
virtual SRP platform, such as Beanstack, READSquared, Evanced, or
Bookpoints. Or, maybe you're planning on making your summer reading
incentive materials available to participants through curbside pick-up.
However you and your library intend to conduct your summer reading program,
we'd love to hear about it. If you're interested in sharing, we will
publish your stories within the next handful of iREAD e-newsletters. We are
all in this together!

Please reach out to us, even if it's just to let us know how you're doing,
at iread@ila.org or on our social media (links to our pages in the footer
of this email message).

Here's what Deidre Winterhalter of the St. Charles (IL) Public Library
said about her library's summer reading plans:

"We already knew we’d be in a smaller, temporary location [due to
renovation], so we had a digital program ready. That is coming in handy
now! We plan on running the program mostly online using ReadSquared
(populated with the Dig Deeper art, of course.) We will also have a limited
number of printed logs on hand, but we aren’t sure yet how many people we
will see in person. We [were] scheduled to start the program May 26th, so
it [was] definitely in place before we open to the public."

The Art of Online Teaching
Thursday, May 28, 2020, 3:00 p.m. (ET)/ 12:00 p.m. (PT)

One of the hallmarks of a high-quality summer program is the way in which
it creates a “summer culture” that is different from the school year and
promotes a sense of community. With the onset of COVID-19, many of us have
been thrust into the world of virtual communicating and learning. But
taking your program virtual this summer may not be as easy as downloading
and broadcasting on the latest software platform. How can summer programs
maintain a feeling of community and facilitate learning in a way that will
keep kids engaged this summer, even at a distance? This will be part 1 of a
2-part interactive series. Register here.
