Dear California Library Community:

Please join us for an upcoming CLA Summer @ Your Library workshop entitled,
"Summer @ Your Library Is Designed to Reach and Engage Everyone." It will
be held at the Berkeley Central Public Library on Monday, March 9th, 2020
from 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The workshop will cover:

  • How to reach people who have not previously taken part in your
    library’s summer programs.
  • How to create a summer at your library that offers something for all
ages and the many demographic groups in your community.
  • How to design programs that are responsive to the cultures, languages,
abilities, and other diversities in your communities.
  • How to utilize the Summer @ Your Library Quality Principles assessment
tool to ensure that strategies for outreach to new library users become a
part of your annual summer program planning.

The workshop will introduce, and focus on, Summer @ Your Library’s Quality
Principle #4: Summer @ Your Library Is Designed to Reach and Engage
Everyone. This workshop will bring library staff together for discussions
and presentations around summer programming, outreach strategies, and best
practices.

The day will focus on helping you plan, assess, and improve your summer
reading and learning programs in order to reach and engage a broader, more
diverse group of library users. You will hear from colleagues already
implementing these principles, and you’ll develop strategies for
implementing and achieving these principles in your own libraries.

Funds are available to support participant travel to and from
the workshop.Backfill funds are available to cover desk hours during the
time that library staff are attending the workshop
.

*Please Note:
